The NYC food workers strike and the labor movement’s new strength

Known as “Fast Food Forward”, the movement held one-day strikes on Thursday outside major fast food restaurants including Burger King, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and Wendy’s. According to Steven Greenhouse of the New York Times, it was the largest set of coordinated labor actions in the history of fast food. Workers are demanding a $15 living wage, almost double the current minimum wage, $7.25.
